Mysuru's sports community came together on November 2, 2025, to honor Prakruthi R. Gowda, a remarkable young woman who has made a mark in the world of karate. This year, Prakruthi showcased her prowess at the 6th International Karate Championship in Shivamogga, where she clinched gold medals in kata and kumite, as well as a silver in the kumite team event. Her team also secured the overall team championship title. What’s even more impressive is her qualification to officiate karate matches at the international level. Prakruthi's accolades don’t stop with the international championship. Earlier this year, she won multiple gold medals in both kata and kumite at the 2nd National Karate Championship held in Hampi. In addition, she has previously won gold medals at the 5th International Karate Championship in 2024 and the Republic Day Cup in 2024. Her local achievements include a gold in the District-level karate championship and being recognized as 'Miss Karate of Shivamogga,' which exemplifies her skill and commitment to the sport.
